On June 18–19, 2025, scholars from across Europe will gather at the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) in Madrid for the Second International Congress titled “Salvation, Politics and Economy in the Early Modern Period: Relevance and Projection of the Scholastic Tradition.” The event is organized within the framework of the research project SALVATION, POLITICS AND ECONOMY: The Trade of Ideas Between Spain and Great Britain in the 17th and 18th Centuries”. It will examine the intersections of theology, philosophy, law, and economics in the early modern era.

Held in collaboration with UFV’s Centro para el Bien Común, the conference aims to explore how the late scholastic legacy shaped intellectual and political developments in both Spain and Great Britain.

The congress features prominent voices in philosophy, theology, law, and economic history, including sessions on just war theory, the soteriological implications of English Arminianism, and the influence of Spanish thought on figures like Locke, Hobbes, and Adam Smith.
